Charles Dickens was born on February 7th, 1812, in a town called Portsmouth Hampshire, England. Charles's father, John Dickens, was a clerk in the Navy and temporarily on duty while he was born. Charles's father spent most of his time in jail and when he was out of jail, he could not keep up financially to support his family. His mother's name was Elizabeth Barrow. Charles and his family moved to London when he was just two years of age. This is where he spent the majority of his childhood. For many years, Charles Dickens was married to Catherine Hogarth. With Catherine, Charles had 10 kids and was separated after 22 years. Charles Dickens was a good man. He was brave, transparent, tender-hearted, compassionate, and honorable. Dickens was very irritable because he was too much of a happy man. When Charles Dickens was a kid, he attached himself to the Morning Chronicle. This is where he began to show talent by entering short essays. Oliver Twist was Charles Dickens' first, and biggest work of his life at the time. Charles Dickens died on June 9, 1870. His death was sudden at his home, and he was buried at Westminster Abbey.
